Monday, 8/26 - Wednesday, 8/28: 6th Grade: Continue Line Variety Project; 7th Grade: Continue Symmetrical Abstract Designs with Construction Paper; 8th Grade: Continue Oil Pastel Exercises.
Thursday, 8/29: 6th Grade: Introduction to Watercolor: Students will observe uses and purposes of watercolor designs. Students will also complete drawing exercises to help train their eyes in recording observations and scenes. Students will then improve these skills by repeating them with watercolor.
7th Grade: Introduction to Abstract Design with Emphasis and Movement with Construction Paper: Students will observe the uses of emphasis and movement in abstract artwork. As a class students will brainstorm and create an abstract design focusing on these two principles of design. From there, students can take that activity and apply it to creating their own specific design with construction paper.
8th Grade: Introduction to Pastel Abstract Designs: Students will observe the similarities and differences of abstract and realistic designs to understand the purposes of each. Next, students will complete a whole class activity in constructing a design process for abstract artwork based on an example in class. Students will then follow this process to create their own abstract designs.
