RIF is a program sponsored by the local Galesburg Noon Rotary Club in which 2 or 3 times a year, before Winter break, Spring break and summer break Lombard students have the opportunity to pick out a free book to own and enjoy over break.

Rebecca Caudill

Picture
Every year  there is a set of Rebecca Caudill books selected by a committee of librarians for students to read and vote for their favorite as the winner of the Rebecca Caudill Young Reader's Choice Award.  When students read at least 3 or more Rebecca Caudill books they can join a pizza, cookie or ice cream party in February  in the library to vote on their favorite Rebecca Caudill book. Votes are submitted in mid-February and a winner is announced by the end of February.

The Golden Goose Challenge

1st quarter winner goes to Mr. French's accelerated English class.
Picture
The Golden Goose Challenge is a Lombard specific program, which challenges Reading and Language Arts classes to read as many Rebecca Caudill books as they can in order to win bragging rights to Sally the Golden Goose. Every quarter the class  that reads the most gets to house the Goose in their reading or Language Arts teachers' room. In the past the challenge was held once a year, but I decided to up the competition to every quarter.
