Health Education Plans for the week of January 13th:
6th grade
Monday: Introduce tobacco unit. Students will learn a basic overview of the respiratory system.
Tuesday: Students will learn about the harmful ingredients within tobacco products.
Wednesday: Students will learn about the short and long-term effects of tobacco.
Thursday: Students will review short & long-term effects of tobacco and calculate the cost of supporting a tobacco addiction.
Friday: Students will watch a short video called, “I Can’t Breathe”. A class demonstration will take place the last 15 minutes of class.
7th grade
Monday: Introduce Eating Disorders Unit.
Tuesday: Students will learn about Anorexia (what it is, signs and symptoms and damaging effects).
Wednesday: Students will learn about Anorexia (what it is, signs and symptoms and damaging effects). Day # 2
Thursday: Students will watch clips from the movie, “Dying to be Thin”
Friday: Students will review the material they have learned thus far over Anorexia.
8th grade
Monday: Introduce Alcohol Unit.
Tuesday: Students will learn about alcohol and blood alcohol concentration.
Wednesday: Students will learn about alcohol and blood alcohol concentration. Day 2
Thursday: Students will learn about the short-term effects of alcohol and participate in an in-class activity.
Friday: Students will learn about the Bacchus Maneuver and the class will demonstrate how to correctly perform the skill.
