Health Education Plans for the Week of November 18th
6th grade
Monday: Students will learn about the harmful ingredients within tobacco products.
Tuesday: Students will learn about the short and long-term effects of tobacco.
Wednesday: Students will review short-term effects of tobacco and calculate the cost of supporting a tobacco addiction.
Thursday: : Students will review go over the long-term effects of smoking and then watch a short video called, “I Can’t Breathe”. Students will then be introduced to the Pig Lungs.
Friday: students will learn about the different types of smoke and the many dangers of secondhand smoke.
7th grade
Monday: Students will complete a web quest over Depression.
Tuesday: Review depression notes, then learn about suicide (signs of suicide and what they could do if they suspect a friend is suicidal).
Wednesday: Students will learn about suicide (signs of suicide and what they could do if they suspect a friend is suicidal).
Thursday: Suicide notes review.
Friday: Students will learn about the self harm behavior of cutting.
8th grade
Monday: Students will learn about drug testing.
Tuesday: Students will participate in an in-class activity. Students will learn about marijuana.
Wednesday: Students will review what they learned the previous class and complete a writing prompt over marijuana.
Thursday: Students will learn about the three drugs that are commonly associated with “date rape”. Students will learn what these drugs do, what they look like, how to protect themselves, and what they should do if they suspect someone they know is ever been slipped one of these drugs.
Friday: Review for Drug Unit Test.
