Sometime soon the booster club and I will be meeting to pick a finalized design concept and all are welcomed to attend. If you would be interested in joining us please email me for specifics - [email protected]
I am currently working with my wonderful booster club to dramatically and professionally decorate our 8th grade hallway and gym. We have a variety of artifacts, pictures, and memorabilia from Lombard Middle School's early days to when this was Lombard College. This process is going to take some time to totally complete, but when finished it will be breathtaking and permanent. The company we are working to help create the design is a professional outfit that has an impeccable reputation. If you have students that currently are here at Lombard and/or you actually attended Lombard as a student - you should be a part of this process!

Students will only be allowed to attend as long as they have not have had an office referral during December. What the celebration is going to be is currently a secret among all of the kids. I LOVE recognizing kids when they make positive choices.
I have been EXTREMELY proud of how much improvement we as a building have made concerning our discipline data this year. Last month was extremely successful as we decreased our building office referrals by almost 60% when compared to the year before. I give total credit to this accomplishment to the staff and students of this building. Lombard is simply an awesome place to be! Today right before school was set to begin, a gas leak was detected on a valve outside of the building at Lombard. We immediately shut off the valve, and contacted Ameren. Unfortunately, as students begin entering the building shortly before school was ready to begin, some of the fumes still lingering outside from the leak began entering the building.
The students here were never really in any kind of immediate danger, but having the responsibility to oversee and protect the students of Lombard is not anything that I will ever take lightly. Shortly after 8am I made the decision to evacuate the building. This is a drill that we have practiced and the students handled the situation wonderfully. We utilize two nearby churches for evacuation purposes within these types of situations, and all students were both safe and comfortable during the entire situation. I GREATLY appreciated all of the compliments I received from parents today on choosing to error on the side of caution. If you have any questions about this emergency procedure or any others please do not hesitate to reach me. #wearelombard All Lombard Community! ------ I am currently working with the booster club to heavily decorate the existing 8th grade hallway and gym with a zephyr/ school pride theme. We are looking at adding some long lasting, extensive, and awesome decorations, decals, etc. to the area. We are going to be working with a advertising consulting firm that specializes in these types of endeavors out of Peoria. There is a meeting on Monday, December 1 at 8am in which we will be sharing ideas about possibilities on how to exactly decorate the area. If YOU would like to be a part of this please contact me - Nick Sutton at 309-973-2004 - if you went here to Lombard we would ESPECIALLY love to see you join this committee!
Ameren came by today and did a free assembly for our entire school on electricity safety. I appreciated them coming SO much. It was both an awesome and informative event!
Also, thank you to our local newspaper the Register Mail. They came by this morning to cover our assembly, and are also doing an article on our recent chromebook initiative. I am proud to report that the chromebook implementation is going fantastic, and I have academic data to support this claim. I can't wait to see the article! we are lombard! I want to do a special shout out to the 7th grade team this week. Currently, they are splitting their entire grade level of students into various "houses" that represent small families of staff and students within the grade as a whole. It's really an awesome thing because with almost 150 kids total, it is easy for kids to feel lonely or lost.
All this week their new houses have been meeting during the day to prepare for an assembly that is taking place today. Each house is going to do a brief cheer that represents them. I have been listening to them practice all this week, and have learned that noise travels well through the vents in my office :) Thursday, October 30 is going to be a fun evening for Lombard. We are hosting a trick or treat event from 4pm until 5pm. All are invited to stop by for some treats in a safe, indoor event. All visitors should enter through our main entrance.
In addition, on that evening we are hosting a dance for all Lombard students from 5pm until 7pm. Students are welcomed to dress up and have fun! Should be a great night. Please make sure you check out our twitter feed on our homepage for pictures of the event. Twitter is a fabulous tool to keep everyone within the Lombard community in the loop on what's going on. You can follow us @Lombard205 If any parents need help setting up a twitter account, please see me and I'd be happy to personally help. I want to thank Mrs. Helle and McCord on hosting an awesome choir concert this week. The kids did outstanding and I was soooooo impressed how well prepared they were!

This last Friday there may not have been students in attendance, but there was still a lot of learning taking place among the teachers within the district. This was a district wide day for teacher professional development, and we were privileged enough to have Kim Bearden as our key note speaker. If you have a moment, check out the link to her website below. She is an amazing person, and it was a tremendous experience getting to listen to her.
