It's hard to believe, but registration is already next week on August 4 and 5. The secretaries return beginning today, so any and all questions about the start of school can be answered during normal business hours. The staff and I cannot wait for school to start!
This year's open house will be on Thursday, August 27 from 5:30pm until 7:00pm. A lot more information will be coming out soon, but we are hoping to organize this evening in an even more fun and enjoyable way. However, please mark the date on your calendars and plan to be there! During the first week of June, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. It was an awesome experience. It's not everyday I get to meet and learn from someone who has had a movie made about them. The ideas and techniques I learned are going to make our great school even better!
Please make sure you check out the attached link on information for registering for school next year. We are hoping to improve and make the process as smooth as possible. Call me directly if you have any questions.
Have a great summer!!! Letter Next Tuesday is our first annual 8th grade transition night at Galesburg High School. Parents are invited to join us at 5pm for the ceremony in the auditorium. Afterwards, there will be an 8th grader only dance, as well. Students are strongly encouraged to dress casual since the building is not air-conditioned and this is an informal event. Please see the attached letter that has been sent home for specifics and call me if you have any questions!
parent letter Erickson gym night is coming up in two short weeks! It will begin at 6:30pm here at Lombard. It is completely free to attend and it should be a lot of fun. Please tune in to WGIL 1400am radio tonight at 5pm. We are going to be interviewed on specifics about the event. HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!
It's hard to believe that there is only about four weeks left of school. The year has went by incredibly fast. Sometime's the end of the year is a great time to begin reflecting on went well and what we can focus on for improvement in the future. However, the discipline data this year has been absolutely incredible. The staff here at Lombard, outreach workers from the YMCA Solutions program, and all of the families within our Lombard community deserve all of the credit. Below is a bar graph to demonstrate just how much we've accomplished. It shows the number of office discipline referrals from the last 5 years. We are on pace to not only have the fewest office referrals ever, but we are on pace to have a third less then last year! I am so excited to see what we'll be able to do in the future!
Friday, May 15 is going to be a very special night for the Lombard Community! Please see the article below and spread the word. Our gym is going to be officially renamed Erickson Gym during this ceremony.
http://www.galesburg.com/article/20150410/SPORTS/150419993/0/SEARCH If you haven't heard, we have a great new student led anti bullying club called the Take a Stand Club here at Lombard. This year our office referrals have been lower each month when compared to the previous school year. This club is certainly a variable making this happen. If you have not already seen the article and story from channel 8 news please see below!
WE ARE LOMBARD! CLICK HERE As we come closer and closer to finishing another year of school, it is easy to begin reflecting on how everything has went. Lombard is a fantastic school and there are so many stories and pieces of data that I could share that shows this. However, I came across some interesting facts on public education as a whole that I felt compelled to share.
