malfunction, I boarded at 10:37 PM.
A BNSF engine was attached to pull us all the way to Chicago.
During my wait, I made some new friends.
My travel buddy, Miss Cavanah, and I were introduced to Leslie,
Phil and Wallace. Wallace is a two and a half year old service dog.
He entertained us with his many tricks and talents.
His owner, Leslie, is a retired teacher turned flight attendant. She had lots of travel tips for us! Phil is an engineer who hails from Scotland. He met Leslie when she was teaching 3rd grade in Cairo, Egypt.
She also taught 7th grade during her career and admits it was her favorite. I agree, 7th grade is the best!
Wallace earned many treats as Phil demonstrated how smart he
is. His service is to assist Phil if he falls or locate human help.
One story Phil shared was once while shopping, Wallace picked out a Pluto
toy and took it to the cash register.
The clerk thought he was so smart, she gave it to him for free. Wallace, Phil, Leslie and Miss Cavanah
made the wait go by quickly.
I arrived in Chicago at 1:40 AM and took the blue line to my hotel an hour later.
